The night of May 25 felt hotter than usual to many in Delhi.
The reason was known the next day when the national dailies reported that Delhi recorded its warmest night in 14 years. The recorded temperature was 32.4 °C, nearly 5.7° above the normal temperature. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on May 27 and has forecasted the maximum temperature to touch 45 °C.
The weather department has also issued heatwave warnings for several other states in northern and central India where the maximum temperature has been recorded in the range of 45-47°C.
This summer heat is brutal, but for many, avoiding the heat and staying indoors is not an option. Delivery workers continue working through blistering heat in the afternoon, labourers keep toiling at construction sites that feel like a furnace, and small vendors continue to stand in the heat managing their work.
Amidst rising temperature in Delhi-NCR, the demand for commercial water is at peak. A man is seen carrying empty containers and delivering water cans in this scorching heat.
